4 simple ways to correct your hormones

If your hormones and menstrual cycle have gone a little crazy this year, you’re not alone. Stress, being out of your routine and many other factors can affect your hormones and your menstrual cycle.

The idea of balancing your hormones sounds great, right? But it can put you right off if you need to up-haul your life in order to do so.

Good news….You don’t have to!

Keep it simple

Simple is best! It’s only our ego’s that want things to be complicated. Or at least we “think” that in order for things to work, they need to be difficult and complicated. That’s simply not true.

So I’m going to share with you 4 simple ways (that work) to correct your hormones:

1. Get enough rest

Hormones LOVE rest! So many of my clients have improved their sleep and are waking up with so much more energy. This is due to a number of different reasons such as:

  • Getting more sleep – go to bed earlier! Simples!
  • Introduce boundaries around working hours and screen time. Turn off your phone and laptop 2 hours before bed.
  • Wearing blue light blocker glasses at least 1.5 hours before bedtime.
  • Do something relaxing before bed, eg a bath, read a book, listen to soft music… not working or going to the gym after dinner.

Why not give one of these a go tonight?

2. Nourish yourself

It’s common to feel a little drained this time of year and that might be showing up in your cycle or you might be feeling it every day. Listen to your body and nourish her. Here in Europe we’re in soups and stews season, so get those root veggies, meats and lentils on the go, and don’t skip meals – balanced blood sugar is incredibly important when it comes to improving menstrual health and it nobody any good feeling hangry.

3. Move (not just your body)

The Autumn season of the year is like the Autumn season of your menstrual cycle. (The Autumn season of your cycle is a week before you start bleeding.) It’s a great time to take stock and wrap things up before Winter arrives, so ask yourself ‘what in my life needs movement?’

Your body may be asking for movement, whether that’s the gym, a walk, an exercise class, a run, some yoga and stretching etc.

Perhaps you feel stuck in your head because you’re contemplating a situation and you just can’t decide what to do.

Or maybe there’s something going on in your life that needs attention and energy in order to progress.

In Chinese medicine, stagnation causes pain and we see this show up in our cycle in all sorts of ways; period pain, pain at ovulation, irritability… the list goes on! So get things moving and don’t just focus on physical body movement.

4. Mind work

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I always talk about mindset! Mind work falls under the mindset bracket and super important for wellbeing of any kind.

One simple but powerful practice you can do is to simply do a brain dump onto paper and get all your thoughts out of your head. It only takes a few minutes but helps us to see our thoughts for what they are and it also creates movement.

I have SO many more tools to share with you to help improve your health and your life but none of them will work unless you do them!

You just need to get going by taking a step. Pick something from the list above and commit to it.

You can improve your cycle, your hormones and your health I know you can.

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

The results my clients get is evidence of that.

You can do this.

P.S.Your brain might be telling you that these strategies are too simple or that they won’t work. Don’t listen to it, prove it wrong.
